Jim Henson created The Muppets and many other beloved characters that appeared on children's television programs like 'Sesame Street.' Despite being hesitant at first, he eventually agreed to join 'Seseame Street' in order to support its socially important goals.

Henson had previously worked with director Jon Stone on another project. When Stone learned about Hensen's initial reservations regarding joining the cast of Sesame street; it was decided that either they could convince him otherwise or simply do without puppets altogether!

However, thanks largely due efforts made by Joan Ganz Cooney (one co-founder), who convinced Jim there were bigger things at stake here than just making money from TV shows alone - especially since these programs aimed towards educating young minds about important issues such as acceptance & understanding etcetera.

So after much persuasion over several meetings held throughout summer '68 during their respective visits back east together attending five three-day curriculum planning seminars taking place mostly around Boston area; Henson finally agreed upon joining forces with them once again.
